If you’ve been eyeing a new drone but hesitated to pull the trigger, you’re not alone. Inflation has been squeezing wallets, concerns about tariffs on Chinese drones and a rocky stock market has left many consumers wary of big-ticket purchases. Luckily, spring 2025 drone deals are still popping up.
Whether you’re a first-time flyer or an experienced pilot looking to upgrade, this guide will help you navigate the best spring 2025 drone deals I’ve seen so far.
$220 off the HOVERAir X1 Self-Flying Camera Drone (plus free gift!)
The HoverAir X1 drone. (Photo by Caroline Dobrez)
The HOVERAir X1 is a lightweight, foldable drone. It’s a nice alternative to DJI drones, such as the DJI Neo or the newer DJI Flip. The HOVERAir X1 is the older model to the spiffier HOVERAir X1 PROMAX and HOVERAir X1 PRO drones, which launched in summer 2024, and this deal has the original at as much as $220 off. Plus, they’re throwing in a free PU case!
Wow, this is an amazing deal on the DJI Osmo Action 4 Essential Comb. Normally $289, it’s on sale for 27% off, bringing the price down to just $209.
The Osmo 4 Essential Combo is a pared down version of another configuration, the Standard Combo. It includes all the same accessories except for one: the Osmo Action Curved Adhesive Base. Photographers typically use the Osmo Action Curved Adhesive Base for mounting Osmo to something like a bike or ski/snowboard helmet. If those sports aren’t your thing, then going for the Essential Combo affords you some amazing savings.
Part 107 course discounts
The job market is tough right now, but why not work for yourself? In order to legally make money in drones in the U.S., you must hold a Part 107 certificate, which you can earn by passing the Part 107 test. I recommend most people study by enrolling in an online course — affording you the convenience to learn at your own pace (no commute need).
Happily, a few companies have hooked my readers up with exclusive discount codes to make this whole quest a little more affordable. Those are:
Drone Pilot Ground School: They offers a fantastic online training course with practice tests and repeatable videos. In fact, I used them to study for my test — and I passed on my first time — so I can guarantee it’s good! Use coupon code DroneGirl100 to get $100 off.
Drone Launch Academy: The people behind Drone Launch Academy are some of the nicest people in the drone industry — and the smartest! They offer a great online training course led by FAA-certified Advanced Ground Instructor David Young. Use coupon code DroneGirl50 or this link to get $50 off.
Mapping course discounts
Speaking of Drone Launch Academy, they are offering a discount on their mapping course, too. After all, merely being Part 107 certified is typically not enough to land a high-paying job in drones. Honestly, the market is super saturated with wedding photographers and real estate photographers using drones. The real money is with specializations like photogrammetry and mapping.
Drone Launch Academy’s Drone Mapping And Modeling Fundamentals course is key to launching that career, covering advanced topics like Nadir vs. oblique imagery, GSD, GeoTIFF files and .SHIP files, automated flight plans and creating reports.
The Sony Airpeak S1 is one of the most powerful professional drones on the market today. It stands out for its compatibility with Sony’s Alpha Series and FX3 Cameras. Flying these high-end cameras through the air is critical for a range of uses, from making Hollywood films to detailed map-making. It’s also got a high-performance flight system built for commercial applications that’s capable of withstanding harsh conditions.
For a limited time through March 7, B&H is sweetening the deal on the Sony Airpeak S1 ($8,999). It’s doing so by bundling it with the Amimon CONNEX Mini Transmitter (Air Unit). This device is the heart of the CONNEX Mini video downlink system. It delivers zero-latency 1080p60 performance with a line-of-sight range of up to 1,600 feet. At just 2.1 ounces, it’s ideal for drones carrying compact mirrorless cameras like the Panasonic GH4 or high-end cinema rigs like the Sony FX3.
Included in the free gift:
CONNEX Mini Transmitter (Air Unit)
Two antennas
Power cable
Micro-HDMI cable
Note: The receiver (Ground Unit) is sold separately.
What makes this drone so special?
The Airpeak S1 is Sony’s bold entry into the professional drone market. It’s been positioned as a top-tier alternative to Chinese-made drones like those from DJI. Given the increasing push to restrict Chinese-made drones, particularly for government and industrial use, the Airpeak S1 is more relevant than ever.
Key Sony Airpeak S1 specs
Max Speed: 55.9 mph (fastest in its class)
Max Angular Velocity: 180°/s
Max Tilt Angle: 55°
Obstacle Avoidance: Vision sensors and LiDAR for stability
This drone, which first was announced in 2021 at CES, initially targeted professional photography and video production. But it didn’t take long for the surveying and industrial application side of the drone industry to pick up on the drone. Besides not being made in China, it stands out for its robust flight control, advanced obstacle sensing and seamless integration with Sony’s high-end cameras.
In April 2023, Sony rolled out even more upgrades which addressed some early issues with the initial drone, like short flight times. That was by way of the new LBP-HM1 Battery, which can now fly for up to 30 minutes without a payload (up from 22 minutes). Sony also launched the Gremsy Gimbal PX1 for Airpeak, which is 40% lighter than the initial GBL-T3 from Gremsy, which is also key in reducing flight times).
Sony’s April relaunch also rolled out even more features to appeal to industrial applications like mapping or inspections. That included a RTK GNSS system for Airpeak S1 with high-precision positioning capability.
The full cost breakdown
If you’re considering purchasing the Sony Airpeak S1, here’s what you’ll need:
That means the base setup — before adding a camera and lenses — is already at $11,198. Given the investment, the free CONNEX Mini Transmitter is a welcome bonus, adding professional-grade video downlink capabilities without additional cost.
Why this Sony Airpeak S1 deal matters
With the U.S. government increasingly scrutinizing the use of Chinese-made drones, the demand for American-made and allied-nation drones has never been higher. While DJI still dominates the market, the Airpeak S1 is a powerful alternative, offering a secure, professional-grade option for filmmakers, surveyors and enterprise users who need to future-proof their operations against potential bans.
There are a number of pieces of legislation floating around there that seek to ban DJI drones. For example, there’s Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s Drones for First Responders (DFR) Act. That act would impose a new, 30% tariff specifically on drones made in China in its first year. The tariffs would grow in size until 2030, upon which the DFR Act would completely ban the importation of drones that contain critical components made in China.
The Sony Airpeak S1 is made by, well, Sony, which is a Japanese company. It’s not subject to those tariffs and restrictions. Companies hiring you for a job might demand you use a non-Chinese made drone, which makes the Sony Airpeak S1 an attractive pick to fly for high-paying contracts. That’s alongside other enterprise drones from American drone companies such as Freefly, Inspired Flight and Ascent Aerosystems.
But for those considering making the jump to the Sony Airpeak S1 in particular, now is an excellent time to buy given the B&H deal. The promo period runs through March 7.

Ah, January — the month of fresh starts, resolutions and — for the savvy shopper — some of the best drone deals. Much like the travel industry’s post-holiday sales, January is prime time for snagging drones at reduced prices. Whether you’re a seasoned drone enthusiast or looking to launch your drone journey, this is one of the best times to score some top-tier tech for less.
Sure, you might be participating in “Buy Nothing January,” but if you’ve been eyeing a drone, these discounts might just make it worth breaking your resolution. (Sorry!) Let’s dive into some of the best drone deals that January 2025 has to offer (sorted by size of the discount, with the biggest discounts first):
Discount: 25.4% Price: $9,399.00 (Reg. $12,599.00) Save $3,200.00
Autel is considered one of the best DJI alternatives, both in the consumer and enterprise drone department. And this particular one is on big sale.
The Autel Robotics EVO Max 4N Industrial Drone is a strong, non-DJI choice (though like DJI, it is made in China) for professionals in mapping, inspections, and emergency services. With advanced features like thermal imaging and anti-jamming capabilities, it’s a high-performing powerhouse. A 25% discount on such a premium product makes this an extraordinary deal for professionals needing cutting-edge technology.
HOVERAir X1 Self-Flying Camera Drone (Fly More Combo)
The HoverAir X1 drone. (Photo by Caroline Dobrez)
Discount: 25% Price: $299.00 (Reg. $399.00) Save $100.00
These lightweight, foldable drones are another alternative DJI drone for beginners who want hassle-free flying. With intelligent self-flying modes and palm takeoff, they’re fun and portable options. Consider it a competitor to either the DJI Neo or the newer DJI Flip (it also sits in the middle of both in terms of price).
Discount: 17% Price: $1,556.95 (Reg. $1,876.95) Save $320.00
This version of the Mavic 3 is ideal for creators who want Hasselblad-quality footage without the premium features of the Pro and Cine versions. Though it’s a slightly older model, the savings make it a strong contender for photographers and videographers seeking pro-level quality.
Discount: 7% Price: $1,335.75 (Reg. $1,435.75) Save $100.00
The Mini 4 Pro is DJI’s fanciest model within the DJI Mini line. It packs a surprising amount of power into its compact frame (which weighs less than 250 grams). With omnidirectional obstacle avoidance and 4K video capabilities, it’s an excellent option for hobbyists. While the percentage off isn’t huge, this discount is notable given how this is not exactly an “old” model.
DJI Air 3 Drone Fly More Combo with RC2 & Essential Accessory Kit
Sally French, The Drone Girl, reviews the DJI Air 3 in July 2023.
Discount: 5.6% Price: $1,569.99 (Reg. $1,662.93) Save $92.94
The Air 3 strikes a balance between performance and portability, offering dual cameras and excellent video resolution. Released in mid-2024, it’s still a relatively new model. But, without the price discount, it would pale in comparison to the newer, spiffier DJI Air 3S. Keep in mind with this deal that the percentage savings are modest, but the bundled accessories make it a solid value.
Discount: 10% Price: $659.99 (Reg. $732.93) Save $72.94
Perfect for FPV enthusiasts, the Avata excels in close-range filming and immersive flight experiences. While the discount is on the smaller side, the Avata’s niche features and included accessories justify its price for those exploring FPV.
And then up next, we have all sorts of configurations of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro drone that are on sale:
DJI Mavic 3 Pro Drone with Fly More Combo & DJI RC with Hard Case Kit
Discount: 6.4% Price: $3,089.99 (Reg. $3,302.88) Save $212.89
A slightly pared-down version of the RC Pro bundle, this kit still offers outstanding image quality and versatility. If you don’t need the premium RC Pro remote, this deal strikes the perfect balance between performance and cost.
DJI Mavic 3 Pro Drone with Fly More Combo & DJI RC Pro with Hard Case Kit
Discount: 6% Price: $3,939.99 (Reg. $4,192.88) Save $252.89
This kit is perfect for creators who want an upgraded RC Pro remote and premium build quality. The discount isn’t groundbreaking, but the Fly More Combo ensures you’re fully equipped for extended shoots, making this a strong value.
DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine Drone with Hard Case & 128GB microSD Card Kit
Discount: 5.5% Price: $4,819.99 (Reg. $5,102.88) Save $282.89
The Cine version of the Mavic 3 Pro is still among the most advanced drones on the market, offering unmatched video quality and ProRes capabilities. This discount is modest, but considering its top-tier specs, it’s probably still worth every penny for professional filmmakers.
DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine Drone with Essential Accessory Kit
Discount: 1.7% Price: $4,819.99 (Reg. $4,902.93) Save $82.99
This Cine version includes fewer extras compared to the hard case kit but still delivers cinema-grade footage with its tri-camera system. While the percentage discount is minimal, professionals seeking the best image quality might still find this deal worthwhile.
A lot of strangers ask me to hook them up with free drones (I don’t even get free drones, so no!). After all, The Drone Girl should mean access to free drones, no?! While I definitely can’t hook you up with a free drone, I can hook you up with Drone Girl-exclusive discounts on some of my favorite products. And considering inflation is roaring, interest rates are high and your 401(k) is probably not exactly soaring, getting a drone discount is likely more crucial than ever.
So I took my powers of sorts as Drone Girl to work with some of the biggest names in drones. They know you readers are some of the most dedicated and thoughtful pilots, entrepreneurs and leaders in the industry — so they want you as customers, too. As a thank you for being my reader, myself and the following companies are able to provide exclusive promo codes and other drone discounts.
I’ll also be transparent; when you patronize the below businesses, it helps me too — either as an affiliate commission, or to show advertisers that their sponsorship of my site is worthwhile! I don’t charge readers (that’s you) for anything on my site — as I believe you having access to information is important. But, I can’t work for free either, which is why I work with these companies. So if you’d like to financial support this site and keep it alive long into the future, consider supporting my supporters!
Drone discount codes, exclusive for Drone Girl readers
Usual Price: $139 Coupon code: DroneG20 at checkout will save you $20 and bring your price down to just $119
2. Coupon codes for other online drone courses
There’s more to learn about drones than simply getting your Part 107 license!
Drone mapping and modeling
A screenshot from the Drone Mapping And Modeling Fundamentals course by Drone Launch Academy.
Drone mapping is one of the top drone applications in the world. Having the skills do build aerial maps or models using drones can translate to a huge increase in the number and types of drone jobs you’re able to take, as well as how much money you can charge for that work.
Given that, enrolling in an online drone mapping class can be a straightforward, affordable way to gain the knowledge you need to level up your drone business. One of the best drone mapping classes, Drone Mapping And Modeling Fundamentals from Drone Launch Academy has offered Drone Girl readers a killer deal on their course, which normally costs $399.
Enter coupon code DRONEGIRLMAPS at checkout to get $150 off their $399 course, bringing your price down to $249. By the way, the discount should automatically apply with this link.
Drone photo courses
Friend of the Drone Girl Johan Vandenhecke (who is the creator of the Drone Adventurer Masterclass, an online drone photography course) is giving all Drone Girl readers $50 off his course.
The course covers so much of what you need to know about using drones for photography, from actual flight tips, to editing in Lightroom and — perhaps most importantly — making money in drones.
Beyond just drone-specific products, I also have a couple other deals around travel, lifestyle and tech products that could save you money:
$10 off Waymo
As someone who loves walking, public transit and generally not driving, I’m a big fan of Waymo to fill in the gaps to get to spaces either too far to walk (or inaccessible by public transit).
It’s like Uber —minus the awkward small talk! My favorite part is blasting whatever music I want.
Waymo operates in San Francisco where I live, as well as a few other cities like Phoenix and parts of Los Angeles. It’s definitely a must-do tourist attraction if you’re ever in San Francisco!
I live in San Francisco, where owning a car doesn’t make sense. But flying drones in San Francisco also doesn’t really make sense oftentimes, which is why I’m constantly driving to vineyards in wine country or down the California coastline to take drone footage.
My preferred way to rent a car? Skipping the traditional rental car companies, and going to Getaround, which is like Airbnb for cars. Rental car prices are incredibly high right now, and waits at the rental car counter are longer than ever. Getaround cars are priced by owners which means you can likely find a deal. Plus, you unlock them through your phone, so there’s no counter to wait at. Walk up to the car, unlock it through the Getaround app and start driving.
If you’re interested in renting out a Getaround car, this link can get you $20 off, which will automatically be applied to your first trip after selecting a protection plan.
Whether it’s flying drones in an awesome new spot, or just attending drone conferences, I am always traveling. Right now, my preferred travel credit card is, well, the Chase Sapphire Preferred, as it earns 5x points on travel purchased through Chase, plus 3x points on dining, streaming and groceries.
Apply now through this link to earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That’s $750 toward travel when you redeem your points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.
While the card has a $95 annual fee, there’s a $50 annual ultimate rewards hotel credit, 10% anniversary points boost, plus other travel benefits like travel insurance (which I wouldn’t travel without these days).
Free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime
It’s 2022, so surely you’ve heard of Amazon Prime. If you haven’t, well — it’s the membership program associated with Amazon. With it comes benefits including free shipping (including same-day delivery on some products), free movie and TV streaming, ad-free access to music streaming, unlimited full-resolution online photo storage and 5 GB free video storage.
Alas, Amazon Prime doesn’t offer free drone delivery — yet.
4. Other ways to get a drone discount (and yes, sometimes even free drones!)
I can’t personally hook you up with free drones, but I can connect you to other places on the Internet that can either nab you a drone discount and, yes, perhaps even a free drone.
You can also commonly find discounts for certainly affiliations, such as being a first responder or military member. Check with those affiliations to see if they apply to you.

The wait is over — Black Friday 2024 is officially here! If you’re a drone enthusiast, this is the best time of year to snag incredible deals on drones, accessories and pilot training courses. Companies are competing for your dollars, offering steep discounts and exclusive bundles to help you take your flying skills to new heights.
I’ve been tracking drone prices for over a decade, so I know which sales are actually worth your money. To save you the hassle, I’ve sifted through countless promotions to bring you the best Black Friday 2024 drone deals.
Whether you’re shopping for yourself or looking for a gift for the drone pilot in your life, here are the top deals to grab right now:
Sally French, The Drone Girl, reviews the DJI Air 3 in July 2023.
Price: $1,240 (normally $1,549)
Sure, the DJI Air 3S drone is the spiffier version of this one that’s on sale. But I still maintain that the DJI Air 3, which is a mid-range drone that I loved when I first reviewed it in 2023, is perfect for hobbyists and semi-pro pilots. Its standout features include omnidirectional obstacle sensing, improved internal storage (42GB), and an all-new Panorama mode. With a $300 Black Friday discount, it’s an excellent buy for those looking to save while still getting a top-notch drone.
Now on most days, the Air 3S Fly More Combo with DJI RC 2 retails for the same price as the DJI Air 3 on normal days. But this weekend, the DJI Air 3 is $300 cheaper.
The ultra-portable HOVERAir X1 offers 4K video, auto-follow, and cinematic templates, making it a great selfie drone. While I typically recommend the DJI Neo for its lower price, the X1’s free battery and steep discount make it a solid alternative DJI alternative.
The Mavic 3 Pro is the best of the best. This flagship drone boasts a triple-camera system, Hasselblad imaging tech, and 43 minutes of flight time. When you shop directly through DJI, the company sweetens the deal with 0% APR financing and a free water bottle.
The 0% APR financing offer can be helpful in allowing you to spread out payments with no interest. Just realize the risks of jumping on such an offer. Missing payments or stretching your finances too thin can lead to fees or negative impacts to your credit scores down the line.
Each Mystery Surprise Box from toy drone maker Potensic contains surprise items like mini drones, batteries, and propellers. It’s a fun and affordable gift idea for hobbyists.
Pilot Institute is the best choice or pilots interested in both uncrewed and crewed aircraft training. Besides their Part 107 courses, they offer training in areas such as checkrides and instrument ratings.
For Black Friday, you save more depending on how much you enroll in. The terms of their sale is:
UAV Coach offers courses for beginners and aspiring drone business owners. Highlights include their Drone Business Blueprint and Drone Mapping Essentials. And now through Dec. 4, 2024, almost all UAV Coach courses are 50% off with the code BFCM24. There are a few exceptions that don’t qualify for the discount, such as the Drone Mapping Essentials Workshop (DME) and Hands-On Flight Training.
Course bundles offer deeper discounts, like the Commercial Drone Business Bundle, which includes DPGS and the Drone Business Blueprint for just $199 (normally $448).
These courses are great for either straight up newbies, or people who are familiar with drones but are new to launching a business. The Skill Builder is an amazing intro to drones class for someone who needs a flying confidence boost. Meanwhile, Drone Mapping Essentials is one of the best online drone mapping classes to learn what you need to know ahead of growing a drone business that actually makes big money.
A stay at the Orlando World Center Marriott for their drone show
A Christmas themed drone show from Sky Elements. (Photo courtesy of Sky Elements)
I prefer experiences, not things, which is why I love this gift idea: a stay at the Orlando World Center Marriott. Why? They’re running a Christmas drone light show.
Their Cyber Sale offers 25% savings on weekend stays through Jan. 20, though you must book anytime on or before Travel Tuesday.
Noise-canceling headphones are a lifesaver for editing videos or working in noisy environments. Today, the normally $349 headphones are on B&H Photo for just $199.
52% off DJI Power 1000 (now $480)
Price: $480 (normally $999)
For drone pilots who love road trips or outdoor adventures, this compact power station is a must-have. At over 50% off, this deal is hard to pass up, especially considering this is the best portable power stations for drone pilots.
Black Friday 2024 has shaped up to be the perfect time to upgrade your drone gear or dive into pilot training at a fraction of the cost. These deals won’t last long, so act fast before items sell out!
Have you found any other great Black Friday drone deals this year? Share them in the comments!
If you’re a drone pilot hoping to get an advance on 2024 Black Friday deals, you’re in luck. It seems that holidays like Halloween and Christmas seem to start earlier and earlier every year. And in 2024, the same holds true for Black Friday.
Many great 2024 Black Friday deals are already out. Companies are competing with each other for your dollars — and presumably brands want to get your dollars before another one did.
Sure, the early marketing emails are annoying, but the good news is that you don’t have to wait until Black Friday to get your deals shopping done. Speaking of marketing emails, I’ve been gathering deals from the top brands all season. I’ve been filtering out which ones are actually worthwhile (after all, I’ve been tracking drones and their prices for more than a decade!).
And with that, I’ve put together an early guide to 2024 Black Friday deals for drone pilots that are actually worth it.
Sally French, The Drone Girl, reviews the DJI Air 3 in July 2023.
Price: $1,240 (normally $1,549)
DJI dropped its DJI Air 3S drone this fall, offering a spiffier version of the original Air 3. Among its biggest improvements are better omnidirectional obstacle sensing, a new Panorama mode and expanded internal storage (42GB up from just 8 on the DJI Air 3). It’s no secret that in a battle between the DJI Air 3 vs. DJI Air 3S, the latter is better. But that assumes the same price point.
The Air 3S Fly More Combo with DJI RC 2 retails for the same price as the DJI Air 3 on normal days. But for Black Friday 2024, the Air 3 is $300 cheaper. That makes the decision tougher in some ways, but either way you win: either a better drone with the Air 3S, or a $300 savings with the Air 3.
And for what it’s worth, when I reviewed the DJI Air 3 in the summer of 2023, I absolutely loved it — and still vouch today that it’s a great drone.
Between now and Dec. 2, the HOVERAir X1 is going for up to 30% off plus a free bonus battery in early Black Friday sales. The Standard it, normally $429, is now down to just $299. The Combo Plus, normally $519, has dropped to $359.
The HOVERAir X1 is an ultra-portable drone with features like auto-follow mode, one-tap cinematic templates, and 4K video capture. This drone is closest in comparison to the DJI Neo. And though I do generally recommend the DJI Neo over the HOVERAir X1 (not to mention, the DJI Neo is cheaper at $199), this is a good option of you want a DJI alternative to a selfie drone.
This is a killer deal on what I considered one of the best portable power stations for drone pilots. The DJI Power 1000 had been on sale at $699 earlier this week, but now it’s been discounted even further to $480.
Portable power stations like the DJI Power 1000 offer the best of both worlds between a car charger (which is usually slow and weak) and a generator (which is loud and bulky). The DJI Power 1000 weighs less than 30 pounds, can recharge devices within roughly an hour and is super quiet — like, even quieter than most household refrigerators.
If you’re constantly roadtripping or camping with your drone, this is a game-changer.
Right now, you can snag the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Fly More Combo (DJI RC) with 0% APR financing and a free DJI-branded water bottle when you shop directly through DJI.
The Mavic 3 Pro is a powerhouse for aerial creatives, featuring a triple-camera system, 43-minute flight time, and Hasselblad imaging technology that delivers stunning photos and videos. The Fly More Combo includes essential extras like extra batteries, a charging hub, and spare propellers, ensuring you’re ready for long flights right out of the box.
The 0% APR financing offer makes this premium drone (yes, it’s $3,000) more accessible by spreading out payments with no interest. For those who’ve been eyeing a flagship drone but don’t want to drop a hefty sum upfront, this deal can be a game-changer. Just know what you’re in for. While 0% APR means no extra interest for the period of the offer, just know that missing payments or stretching your finances too thin can lead to fees or negative impacts to your credit scores down the line.
Happy November, dronies! Yes, it’s already that time to think about Christmas gifts — or whatever other winter holidays you’re shopping for! And if you have a drone lover in your life you are shopping for this holiday season, look no further, The Drone Girl’s got you covered with our 2024 Holiday Drone Gift Guide.
From essential accessories to nerdy must-haves, we have something for every drone pilot on your list. Even if they do not need another drone (or if a drone isn’t within your budget), you’ll discover there are a ton of fantastic holiday gift options out there.
I’ve broken down the gifts by budget, so no matter what your budget or the drone pilot’s interests, we have the perfect gift for them. I’ve curated a selection of potential Holiday 2024 Drone Gift Ideas to help you find the ideal present for the drone pilot in your life.
So with that, here’s your 2024 holiday drone gift guide:
2024 holiday drone gifts under $20
Personalized Puzzles($10.99): The drone photographers in our lives take beautiful shots and they deserve to be shown off. Why not take one of their photos and turn it into a puzzle for everyone to enjoy? Of course, you could make a personalized puzzle with any of your photos, but one of your aerial drone shots (or a shot taken by the gift recipient themselves) would be really special.
Drone Symbol Baseball Cap ($18.99): This baseball hat with the simple drone design is an understated accessory to add to any drone lover’s closet.
Tablet Holder for DJI Series ($19.99): It can be tricky for drone pilots to capture the perfect shot on the small screen, attaching a tablet to the controller can help the pilot view all the fine details. Before purchasing, check out your drone pilot’s type of drone and tablet and ensure they are compatible.
STARTRC Drone Landing Pad Pro($19.99): A landing pad is a must-have for any drone pilot, it helps protect drones from damage when landing. This durable pad is easy to fold and unfold, making it portable and convenient.
Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament ($19.99): I mean…drones would be much more efficient than reindeer anyway, which makes this super cute Santa ornament a perfect gift for Christmas.
LEGO Marvel Spider-Man’s Drone Duel Building Kit ($19.99): Superheroes and drones? It’s an excellent combination for any holiday gift. If your drone lover loves Legos, but superheroes aren’t their speed, there are plenty of other Lego kits that feature drones. Check out tons of other LEGO drone options here.
MicroSD cards (price varies): This is the perfect gift for any drone photographer because you can never have enough memory cards! A broken, lost, corrupted, full, or forgotten memory card will ruin any drone shot. One of our current favorite memory cards is the Samsung PRO Ultimate Micro SD and it is currently on sale for $36.99 (that’s a 27% discount).
Drone Books (price varies): If your drone lover is also a book nerd, there are many excellent drone books on the market. You can check out our best drone children’s books here or a selection of excellent drone books here.
2024 holiday drone gifts under $50
Drone Dojo Subscription ($27…sort of): If the drone lover in your life also loves building and creating, look into a Drone Dojo subscription. $27 gets you a Blue Belt Membership, which gives you access to Drone Dojo courses, projects, and more. The courses teach you a range of drone skills including how to build a drone from scratch, and how to program a drone to make it truly autonomous. Exact prices range based on how many months you want to subscribe for.
This is also a great gift as it won’t take up any space — and doesn’t require you to pack and ship it, either.
Holy Stone Mini Drone($35.99): Perhaps the drone lover in your life isn’t ready for the real thing, or is new to the hobby, this toy drone is a great place to start. This indoor toy drone is easy to fly and sure to bring joy to the youngest of drone lovers.
DJI Mini 4 Pro 360 Propeller Guard ($35.99): If the drone lover in your life purchased the newest DJI Mini line drone to hit the market, the DJI Mini 4 Pro, then these propeller guards are a great gift — particularly because the kit sold by DJI rather annoyingly does not include propeller guards (no, not even the upgraded Fly More Combo).
But because the Mini 4 Pro is a top pick for beginners, having propeller guards is critical in giving any drone pilot even more peace of mind knowing their propellers are protected when they fly their prize possession.
Drone Case (price varies): Most likely, the most important thing in your drone pilot’s life is their drone, so give them a gift that keeps their drone and its accessories safe from damage, dust, and moisture.
The case and price will vary depending on the type of drone you are purchasing the case for. INSYOO makes high-quality cases for most DJI drones. The INSYOO case made for the DJI Mini 2 begins at $25.99.
Drone Lens Filter (price varies): Maybe you want to help your beloved drone pilot take even better photos, then get them a lens filter. Filters can help reduce the amount of light in bright conditions, increase the color concentration, and more. Different filters serve various situations (and are fitted to specific drones), so research the drone and what type of condition they are often flying in. Generally speaking though, filters tend to cost under $50.
For example, the Globact ND Lens Filter Set comes with 6 types of filters and is compatible with DJI Mavic Mini, Mavic Mini 2, and Mini 2S. The 6 set of filters is $36.77.

The DJI Neo ($199): We have to recommend DJI’s new, selfie drone that’s ridiculously affordable. It’s just $200, and it’s a perfect entry-level drone. It’s great for kids. It’s great for indoor flying. It’s great for situations where you don’t want a huge drone buzzing around.
In some ways, it functions more like a toy drone with a relatively short battery life (18 minutes max) and minimal strength in wind. But given the price point, this is definitely a great gift for a newer or younger pilot.
The DroneMask 2 ($179): The DroneMask2 is a mask that gives any drone pilot a seamless, immersive experience when flying their camera drone. This innovative product allows you to turn any drone into an FPV drone. The mask works with all camera drones and smartphones, so no need to worry about what type of drone they have. This gift is sure to please and surprise any drone lover. We recently reviewed the DroneMask 2, check it out here.
Spare drone batteries (price varies): You won’t have to worry about this gift being returned, as you can guarantee this gift will be welcomed and used. Every drone pilot should fly with spare batteries nearby, in case of emergency, making it perfect for the ultra-practical folks.
Battery costs differ depending on the drone model and are rarely interchangeable, so double check you are purchasing the right battery for your drone pilot’s specific drone.
DJI Mini 2 SE ($339, on sale for $298): If you are looking for an inexpensive drone with still high-quality features look no further than another drone in the DJI Mini line, the DJI Mini 2 SE.
Hands down, there is no better drone under $400 than the DJI Mini 2 SE. And during the Black Friday sale, you can get that drone for under $300. The DJI Mini 2 SE is currently on sale for $298.
Drone Adventurer Masterclass+ ($300): Taught by Belgium-based aerial photographer Johan Vandenhecke, this is a start-to-finish guide on using drones to take photos and cinematic videos–and how to make money while doing it. A perfect gift for any drone pilot trying to master their craft.
Drone Pilot Ground School ($299-$525): If the drone pilot in your life hasn’t taken the Federal Aviation Administration’s Aeronautical Knowledge Test yet, chances are they will need to take that soon (if they are planning on turning their hobby into a business). Passing the test is a requirement to fly drones commercially under Part 107.
The Drone Pilot Ground School is by far the biggest of all the Part 107 test prep programs and the one we would recommend if you want an established player. But there are many other options if you are looking for something different.
HoverAir X1 ($445, but on sale for $379): This flying camera is a great gift for anyone who wants a beginner drone that records sound and flies indoors. Don’t expect a DJI-quality drone, when you purchase the HoverAir X1. However, it’s a great little companion for someone who is looking to record mostly human subjects rather than big aerial scenes. Read our full review on HoverAir X1 here.
The HoverAir X1 is currently on sale for Black Friday deals for $379, saving you $66. Purchase the HoverAir X1 on Amazon.
DJI Mini 3 (starting at $467): This is the perfect starter drone, as it offers a high-quality camera, but still strips down the fanciest features to keep costs under control. Its camera is slightly lesser when compared to other DJI drones and it doesn’t have the full obstacle avoidance features. But, it’s DJI’s best drone under $500 (though that price point assumes you don’t need the controller, which a new pilot would.) If you want to explore other DJI drones for under $500, check out our guide to the best drones under $500.
The DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo is currently on sale for $654 (saving you $143.64). The Fly More combo comes with a Mini 3, an RC controller, a shoulder bag, intelligent flight batteries, and several other accessories, basically the perfect drone starter kit.
2024 holiday drone gifts under $1,000
DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ($519): If the drone-lover in your life is always looking for the latest technology, then the Osmo Pocket 3 camera is perfect for them. It’s DJI’s latest compact and versatile handheld action camera. With major upgraded camera sensors, enhanced color modes, robust stabilization, and audio capabilities, it’s a versatile tool that caters to the demands of both amateur and professional content creators. Check out our full review.
DJI Mini 4 Pro ($959): This drone just hit the market in late September and it is the best drone for beginners, hands down. DJI added omnidirectional sensing to this model, making it particularly crashproof. If you have been wanting to purchase a first-time drone for someone in your life, this is the drone to get!
The drone has a 1/1.3-inch CMOS camera sensor and is incredibly small and compact (weighing under 249 grams). I can’t recommend this drone enough.
Looking for incredible drone deals this Amazon Deal Days 2024? Whether you’re a hobbyist, aspiring photographer, or tech enthusiast, what Amazon claims is its “biggest sales event of the year so far” is a good opportunity to score high-quality drones at unbeatable prices. We likely won’t see deals this good again until Black Friday 2024. So if you can’t wait another nearly two months, jump on these drone deals now.
If you like what you see though, you don’t have a lot of time to think about it. Most of the deals below will only be there through Oct. 9 at 11:59 p.m. PT.
But with that, I’ve found the best drone deals, as well as deals on drone-adjacent products that drone pilots will love:
Why it’s a deal: For photographers who demand a high-quality camera, I easily recommend the DJI Air 3 as the top drone for beginners. It strikes a perfect balance between easy to fly, but also impressive quality. Now this version is the Fly More Combo, which is more expensive than the standalone drone, but it’s worth it. It comes with the DJI RC 2, which is a well-worth it controller given the built-in screen.
I will add, the standalone DJI Air 3 is also on sale for 20% off, which brings the $1,099 price tag down to $874. If you’re on a budget, this is also a killer deal. Though, you only get the DJI RC-N2 controller, which isn’t such a seamless flying experience.
Key features: 4K camera, GPS-assisted flight, and long-range transmission.
Why it’s a deal: Look, Holy Stone is not as reputable a brand as the big dawg, DJI. If your budget is $199 and you truly want the best drone, I’d honestly recommend the DJI Neo for the same price. That said, many people have been seeking DJI alternatives as of late — in which case this fits the bill.
Key features: 3-axis stabilization, built-in extension rod, ActiveTrack 5.0, and magnetic phone clamp.
Why it’s a deal: The DJI Osmo Mobile 6 is a must-have for content creators filming on their smartphones. Its 3-axis stabilization ensures smooth, cinematic shots. The built-in extension rod adds versatility (hello, selfie mode!). With ActiveTrack 5.0, you can lock onto subjects, ensuring they remain in focus and centered no matter where they move.
Though I will note: while the Osmo Mobile 6 is excellent for most mobile users, it may not be the best fit for those using larger phones or with heavy cases, as it can struggle to balance heavier setups.
Key features: 4K/120fps video, dual-screen design, waterproof up to 10 meters, and magnetic modular system.
Why it’s a deal: The DJI Osmo Action 2’s 4K video at 120fps is great for slow-motion shots and fast action shots The dual-screen design allows you to see yourself while recording, making it ideal for vlogging and action selfies. The Action 2 is also waterproof up to 10 meters, making it a fantastic companion for water sports, snorkeling, and more.
Amazon Deal Days 2024: the ultimate guide to hacking the best deals
Amazon Deal Days, the fall equivalent to Prime Day, is your chance to grab top-notch tech products at a fraction of the price. Drones, especially from leading brands like DJI, Autel Robotics, and Holy Stone, are often deeply discounted during these sales, making it the perfect time to upgrade or start your drone collection.
In order to be eligible to shop the deals, you must be an Amazon Prime member, which costs $139 per year. However, here’s a tip: sign up for a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime. That allows you to still shop the deals. From there, you can just cancel your membership within the 30-day period if you decide not to keep it — and avoid paying the $139 for Amazon Prime membership.
Tricks for finding the biggest discounts on Amazon Deal Days 2024
Set price alerts: Use Amazon’s “Watch This Deal” feature to track prices. That way you’re really sure if the advertised Amazon Deal Days 2024 price is that much better than the usual price.
Check Lightning Deals: Amazon offers limited-time Lightning Deals on certain products. These deals usually last for just a few hours, so check Amazon regularly throughout the day.
Compare prices off Amazon, too: Amazon is a huge retailer, and the primary focus of this guide. But before jumping on any deal, compare prices with other retailers like Best Buy or Walmart. Many of those retailers are running their own deal days. Even without an official deal, many promise to price match.
Use credit card rewards: Some credit cards offer extra cash back or rewards for shopping on Amazon. Check your card’s rewards program to see if you can stack savings. In fact, the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card tends to be the best of them. This card has no annual fee, yet it offers 5% back on Amazon purchases (as well as Whole Foods). For pricey purchases like drones, 5% back can amount to a significant amount — making this card a valuable one in your wallet.
Drone enthusiasts, rejoice! You can now snag a Holy Stone FAA Compliant Remote Identification Broadcast Module for a steal. That’s right, for a limited time, you can get this Holy Stone Remote ID module for just $20.99. That’s a whopping $70 off the original price of $89.99.
How? You’ll need a specific promo code that Holy Stone has shared exclusively with drone industry content creators like me.
Normally priced at $89.99, the Holy Stone FAA Compliant Remote Identification Broadcast Module has actually long been discounted to $69.99 on Amazon. But we’ve got an even sweeter deal for you. Amazon currently has a 50% off coupon, bringing the price down to $35.
To get that promo code to apply, you simply need to click the button on the main Holy Stone Remote ID module storefront page to apply that promo code:
Okay, so now you’re at $35. But when you use the exclusive promo code RID20OFF at checkout, you get an additional 20% off. What’s even more wild though is that the 20% off actually applies to the prior $70 price, not the $35 price. That means you get 20% off $70, which makes for an additional $14 off the $35 price.
And with that, you’re down to just $21. I’ve never seen a Remote ID module anywhere near that cheap.
Here’s the full breakdown:
Original price: $89.99
Amazon discount: $69.99
Amazon coupon: $35
Our promo code (20% off $70): $14 off
That’s how you end up with a final price of just $20.99!
The RID20OFF promo expires on Aug. 31 at 11:59 p.m. PT. But, because it’s unclear when the 50% off deal ends, you should jump on this deal now. Get the Holy Stone Remote ID discount here.
Why you should pair your Holy Stone Remote ID module with Amazon Prime
One annoying drawback. Though the deal is killer, you’ll owe $6.99 in shipping and handling fees. That is, unless you’re an Amazon Prime member.
That said, you can become an Amazon Prime member for free (albeit for a brief period of time) by taking part in the Amazon Prime free trial. Amazon Prime membership typically costs $14.99 per month, but you can get your first 30 days free by signing up through this link. Just be sure to cancel before the trial ends if you don’t want to get charged for the ongoing membership so you can truly get the Remote ID module for $21 (with no additional $7 fee).
Why this deal is, well, a big deal
This incredible deal on the Holy Stone Remote ID module is more than just a bargain. It’s a crucial step towards safer skies — and making it possible for drone pilots to become Remote ID compliant.
Not to mention, the Holy Stone Remote ID module gets great reviews too. It’s lightweight (weighing about 14 grams) — so it won’t significantly reduce your drone’s flight times. And it has a long life of its own, capable of going about five hours on one charge. It’s easy to set up, and it works reliably well.
The Federal Aviation Administration put Remote ID regulation into effect in September 2022. It’s part of an effort to enhance safety, security, and accountability in airspace. Though, it wasn’t until March 2024 that drone pilots were legally required to abide by the rules and ensure their aircraft is Remote ID compliant.
Yet many drone pilots have said the initial cost of compliance has been a barrier for many drone enthusiasts. And even still, many drone pilots fly out of compliance. After all, many Remote ID modules hover in the $100 price point (and some closer to $200). Some have said that price tag is prohibitively expensive, especially for hobbyists or small businesses.
So with that comes an opportunity to get what some consider critical safety equipment at an actually affordable price point. And perhaps that will encourage more drone pilots to comply with the regulations. It’s a win for drone pilots, the FAA and the general public.
