Best 2025 Prime Day Drones and Tech Discounts

Amazon Prime Day 2025 — or rather, Prime Days — is in full swing. With just one day left, it’s time to lock in some of the best drone and creator-tech deals of the year. The 2025 Prime Day event kicked off July 8 at 12:01 a.m. PT and runs through July 11 at midnight, giving Amazon Prime members four full days (96 hours!) to save big.

Whether you’re a drone racing pro, aerial photography enthusiast, hobbyist, or first-time flyer, this is one of the best times of the year to invest in new tech — from drones and cameras to accessories and editing gear.

Remember, most of these deals are available only to Prime members. Not a member yet? Start by signing up for a 30-day trial. Students and young adults (ages 18–24) get Amazon Prime for 50% off via Amazon PrimeStudent

The best 2025 Amazon Prime Day drone deals

Now there are TONS of drones on sale for 2025 Prime Day. My take? Most of these are junk. I parsed out the drone deals to find the good ones from reputable drone makers. In fact, I’ve reviewed all these drones myself, and truly endorse any of these models:

DJI Mini 4K Fly More Combo – 20% off

I called the DJI Mini 4K the best value for the price in my guide to DJI drones under $500. Now, for Prime Day 2025, it’s even less than $400. It weighs under 249g — meaning no registration required (for hobby use). This Fly More Combo includes three batteries for up to 93 minutes of total flight time, all in a compact, travel-friendly kit.

DJI Neo Three-Battery Combo – 21% off

Sally French, The Drone Girl, and the DJI Neo drone. (Photo by Sally French)

One of my favorite beginner drones (and a great drone for kids), the DJI Neo is palm-sized, beginner-friendly, and shoots 4K video. It’s great for casual creators and kids alike — and it doesn’t require FAA registration. This bundle includes three batteries.

DJI Air 3 (RC-N2) – 15% off

Sally French, The Drone Girl, reviews the DJI Air 3 in July 2023.
Sally French, The Drone Girl, reviews the DJI Air 3 in July 2023.

A solid mid-range drone for serious photographers. The Air 3 offers dual cameras, omnidirectional obstacle sensing, and up to 46 minutes of flight time. It’s not the top-of-the-line Air 3S — but it comes close, for far less (do check out my guide to the DJI Air 3 versus DJI Air 3S).

30% off HoverAir drones

HOVERAirX1 PRO (left) versus HOVERAirX1 PROMAX (right).
HOVERAirX1 PRO (left) versus HOVERAirX1 PROMAX (right).

Both the HOVERAir X1 Pro and PROMAX drones are on sale. These compact, foldable flyers launched in summer 2024 and offer smart, lightweight alternatives to DJI drones, like the DJI Neo or DJI Flip.

Check out my HOVERAir X1 PROMAX and HOVERAir X1 PRO review.

Amazon is selling them for 30% off as part of their 2025 Amazon Prime Day sale.

EIELEDIY Quadrotor Drone DIY Kit – 20% off

  • $55.99 (was $69.99)

This is the one drone in this guide that I haven’t tested myself, but it looks pretty interesting for STEM enthusiast. It’s a drone you build yourself (it takes about 1.5 hours to assemble). Once built, you’re looking at a drone with a 1080p camera, optical flow hovering, brushless motors, and five flight modes including 360° flips and one-click takeoff.

This looks like a great gift for STEM students. And at just $55.99 for Prime Day, it’s one of the best-value entries into DIY drone-building out there. That’s far less than the drones I usually recommend for high school classrooms.

2025 Prime Day deals on creator-favorite cameras

23% off GoPro HERO13 Black

  • Standard: $329 (was $429.99)
  • Creator Edition: $549.99 (was $649.99)
  • HERO13 Bundle: $379.00 (was $479.99)

The GoPro HERO13 Black is built for cinematic drone work — with 5.3K video, 27MP stills, and support for modular lenses. Whether mounted to a quadcopter or used for behind-the-scenes content, it’s a top-tier action cam for aerial creators.

Amazon is offering multiple versions at a discount (yes, the Polar White colorway is also available at the same discount).

DJI Osmo Action 4 Essential Combo – 31% off

DJI Osmo Action 4 camera review

Though not the newest in DJI’s action camera lineup (that would be the Osmo Action 5), the Action 4 offers 4K/120fps capture, long battery life, and rugged, waterproof performance — all at a budget-friendly price.

2025 Prime Day discounts on tech and accessories for drone creators

Bandolier Miller Crossbody Bag – 20% off

My personal favorite way to carry a DJI RC and phone in style. This leather crossbody offers sleek storage, internal zips, and a molded pocket — perfect for fashion-forward drone pilots on the move.

Apple AirTag 4-Pack – 34% off

Pop one in your drone case or camera bag to track your gear with Apple’s Find My network. A must-have for anyone traveling with expensive tech.

Apple AirPods Pro 2 – 40% off

Perfect for fieldwork: block background noise while reviewing footage or taking calls with crystal clarity. Adaptive transparency and spatial audio round out the experience.

31% off Echo Dot (5th Gen) + Marvel Iron Man Stand Bundle

Amazon’s best-sounding Echo Dot plus a Marvel-themed Iron Man stand? Yes, please. It’s voice-controlled smart tech with a fun, nerdy twist — ideal for controlling your drone workspace.

Normally $89.98, it’s $61.98 for Prime Day.

Reliable Wi-Fi is essential when uploading drone footage or livestreaming a flight. This mesh system covers up to 6,500 sq ft and supports 150 devices, with three gigabit Ethernet ports per unit and AI-optimized connectivity.

Originally $199.99, the 3-pack is now $149.98 — and it includes TP-Link HomeShield security features to protect your network.

How to maximize your Prime Day 2025 deals

  • Get a Prime membership: Don’t forget — most deals are exclusive to Prime members. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial to get in on the action

2025 student and teacher discounts on drones (and scholarships!) you need to know

Summer is here, and it’s hard to believe that the 2025-2026 school year is fast approaching. Whether you’re in the classroom or leading one, here are the best student and teacher discounts, scholarships and promotions for all things drones.

Tech deals for teachers from major electronics stores

Three of the best brick and mortar stores for buying camera gear and related electronics offer discount programs that you can apply, which offer heavy discounts on specific products. Here are the three best student and teacher discounts for (most) tech-related things:

B&H EDU Advantage

B&H EDU Advantage offers 10-20% off on photography and video products, including SD cards. The discount doesn’t cover everything that’s for sale on its website (and sadly, DJI drones typically aren’t offered up under the discount program). But, it does encompass roughly 4,500 items.

Plus, for busy teachers who don’t have time to parse through the best products, the B&H EDU Advantage program offers expert help so you can speak to a product expert for exact recommendations based on your needs.

B&H only has one physical store (it’s in Manhattan), but if you’re not anywhere near there, the photo retail giant also has a robust online presence. Plus, it offers free shipping on most items.

Best Buy Education

Like B&H EDU Advantage, Best Buy Education offers similar discounts and the added benefit of working alongside an education account manager who can assist teachers and schools in getting classrooms tech-ready.

Signing up for Best Buy Education is relatively simple for teachers. Unlike many teacher discount programs, you do not need to show any proof (valid .edu email, teacher ID, etc.) to sign up. You simply sign up for a business account and select education as your industry.

From there you will receive special discounts and free shipping on orders $35 and up.

Amazon Prime for Young Adults

Amazon Prime for young adults offers a cost-effective way to access all the perks of a regular Prime membership — including free two-day shipping, Prime Video, Prime Music and exclusive Prime Day deals — at a discounted rate.

Students enrolled in a college or university can sign up for Prime Student, which is only about half the standard cost. Beyond streaming and shipping, members also get access to perks like Grubhub+ for food delivery discounts, free gaming content through Prime Gaming, and textbook rentals, making it a smart pick for budget-conscious students and recent grads in the drone industry.

What about DJI teacher discounts?

The two largest drone manufacturers,DJI and Autel Robotics, do not partner with either program at the moment, so you won’t be able to score a drone discount on their products.

That said, there is a program for teachers and students called the DJI Education Hub. They are not currently offering any discounts and promotions for DJI products, but it’s free to sign up, and the program has been known to offer a range of discounts on select drones. It might be worth handing over your email in case they resume alerts of student and teacher discounts.

The DJI Education Hub also has courses for teachers or schools to purchase. The courses are an Introductory course (for elementary students), a Teamwork and Collaboration Course (for middle school students), and a few Advance Courses (for high school students). These courses are geared toward robotics, artificial intelligence, communication technology, and more. The course prices begin at $6 a month. These courses are excellent STEM classes or after-school programs but not drone-centric.

Other ways to save money on drones in 2025

While there are few options for discounted drones for teachers and students, you might also consider buying a used drone. Just understand that — while buying used can save money — used drones also carry risks.

Student and teacher discounts on Part 107 test prep courses

While building drones is certainly a key component of a STEM program, you’ll typically need a Remote Pilot Certificate to be able to fly them. Under the FAA Part 107, which is the set of Federal Aviation Administration rules around commercial drone operation (which typically includes classroom operations, too), each drone flight must have a remote pilot in command. While that doesn’t necessarily have to be the drone pilot itself (so unlicensed students can be on the controls), the remote pilot in command is directly responsible for (and is the final authority on) the drone’s operation.

To be considered a remote pilot in command, you must have that drone pilot’s license, which you can get by passing a written test, which most people refer to as the Part 107 test. And the best way to get that test? Enrolling in an online Part 107 test prep course.

And even though your students don’t necessarily need a license if you have one, it can be a good project (perhaps an extra credit assignment) to get their own drone pilot’s license. Just note the 16-year-old age minimum to be eligible for a remote pilot certificate with a small UAS rating.

So with that, here are some ways to nab student and teacher discounts on Part 107 test prep courses:

The Drone Pilot Ground School scholarship program

Images showing screen grabs from the Drone Pilot Ground School course.

Drone Pilot Ground School offers comprehensive resources, and many teachers opt to enroll their students in this program, which teaches valuable STEM concepts and prepares students for a career in drones. The online test prep program has a 99% passing rate. And in Drone Girl’s opinion, it’s the best online test prep program if you want an established player.

The best part? Drone Pilot Ground School provides a scholarship that grants free access to their online Part 107 test prep course (usually $299) to U.S. high school students seeking to obtain their FAA drone pilot certificate. The scholarship program has unlimited availability, and students are accepted on a rolling, case-by-case basis, making it accessible to all interested.

And if you don’t qualify for the scholarship, you can always use this link with coupon code DRONEGIRL100. That’ll take $100 off the cost of the course.

John Peltier

Peltier Photo Pro group discounts

John Peltier’s FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Test Prep Course is an online training program that includes short videos, frequent quizzes, and simple text that cuts straight to the point. It is one of the cheapest test course programs and on top of that they offer group discounts. The course is $139 but with 10-20 enrollments, it goes to $99 per person, and for 21 or more, it is $79 per person.

And just like Drone Launch Academy, John Peltier’s FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Test Prep Course also comes with a test-pass guarantee.

Other student and teacher discounts on conferences and workshops

For all drone-enthusiasts educators looking to expand their network and knowledge at a conference, the Law-Tech Workshop will again likely offer scholarships for the 2026 event. The Law-Tech Connect Workshop is an all-day legal-focused event co-located within the massive AUVSI XPONENTIAL palooza.

The Scholars Program is designed to financially support people within the drone industry (educators and students included!) who may not have the means to pay. The scholarship application is pretty straightforward.

They have yet to announce all the details of next year’s scholarship program, but Dawn Zoldi, the workshop organizer, anticipates that the program should be similar to last year.

UAV Coach launches Aerial Photo & Video for Drone Pilots — here’s why you’ll want in

If you’ve ever looked at your drone footage and thought, “Why doesn’t this look like what I see on Instagram?” (and yes, that’s me too), then there’s something good out there for you. — this course is for you. UAV Coach today launched a new online course called Aerial Photo & Video for Drone Pilots.

What the “Aerial Photo & Video for Drone Pilots” course is all about

This hands-on, step-by-step program is built specifically for drone pilots — not generic photographers. Whether you’re a total beginner or you’ve dabbled with manual settings and are ready to get serious, this course is designed to elevate your drone content from basic to beautiful.

What makes the UAV Coach course different

Most online photography tutorials assume you’re holding a DSLR. But as drone pilots, we’re working with a flying camera — and that’s a whole different beast.

UAV Coach’s Aerial Photo & Video for Drone Pilots is tailored entirely for aerial creators. You’ll learn skills like:

  • Drone-specific photo and video settings
  • Cinematic flying techniques for smoother shots
  • When and how to use intelligent flight modes
  • Editing workflows using free tools (like Snapseed and Photopea)
  • Pro-level editing using Adobe Lightroom and Premiere Pro
  • How to use the DJI Fly app to edit on the go
  • And yes… how to shoot a legit hyperlapse

Plus, it includes practical flight exercises so you’re not just watching — you’re doing. Here’s a look at just some of what’s inside:

  • Drone Photography Techniques: Composition, angles, ND filters, HDR, panorama, night shots
  • Camera Settings Deep-Dive: Aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance — all demystified
  • Post-Production Made Simple: Step-by-step editing workflows using Snapseed, Photopea, Lightroom, LightCut, and Premiere Pro
  • Drone Videography Mastery: Slowing down controls, capturing golden hour, intelligent flight modes, storytelling with music & titles

In fact, the UAV Coach team has allowed me to share a preview lesson, which you can watch right here:

How it compares to other drone photography courses

There are tons of great drone photo and video courses out there. In fact, I reviewed moe than a dozen for my guide to the best online drone photo courses for 2025.

So where doesUAV Coach’s new Aerial Photo & Video for Drone Pilots fit in?

While programs like Drone Adventurer Masterclass+ shine for their personalized coaching and monetization strategies, and Drone Launch Academy’s Aerial Photo Pro is excellent for Lightroom-heavy post-processing, UAV Coach stands out by blending flight-based training with practical editing workflows — all with a focus purely on drones. It’s more hands-on than John Peltier’s theory-rich lessons, more comprehensive than DARTdrones’ quick-hit overview, and significantly more affordable than the $397 Aerial Video A to Z course.

Who should enroll in this course?

This course is for you if you’ve ever said:

  • “I have to learn another software—where do I start?”
  • “Why does my footage look bad?”
  • “I’m not creative enough to take great shots.”

Whether you’re a recreational flyer hoping to improve your Instagram game or a commercial pilot ready to deliver more polished work for clients, this course has the structure, pacing, and content to meet you where you’re at.

It’s most ideal for:

  • Drone pilots wanting to get into aerial photography/videography.
  • Beginners who feel overwhelmed by scattered YouTube tutorials.
  • Flyers looking for editing techniques with both free & pro tools.
  • People who want to fly with purpose and capture epic visuals.

That said, I’ve spent the past couple weeks reviewing the course myself, and there are some drone pilots who can skip it. Namely, it might feel redundant for experienced photographers or videographers. That means anyone already fluent in framing, exposure and editing software can skip it.

UAV Coach Aerial Photo & Video for Drone Pilots

Aerial Photo & Video for Drone Pilots officially goes live today, that’s April 30, 2025. Even better? UAV Coach is offering an early bird discount to celebrate the launch:

  • Launch Date: April 30, 2025
  • Early Bird Price: $129 (available April 30–May 14)
  • Regular Price: $179 (starting May 15)
This launch discount cannot be combined with other codes.

Enroll in Aerial Photo & Video for Drone Pilots by UAV Coach before May 15 to save $50.

Who is UAV Coach?

If you’ve been in the drone world for any amount of time, chances are you’ve heard of UAV Coach. Founded in 2014 by Alan Perlman, UAV Coach has grown to become one of the most trusted and recognizable names in drone education.

I first learned of them when I was looking to study for my Part 107 test. They’re the coming I used to take (and pass!) the test. I consider them one of the best online Part 107 prep courses out there.

Since then, UAV Coach has grown to offer a robust course library including “The Drone Business Blueprint” which launched last year and targets people looking to build a successful drone business. They also offer more specific job skills through programs like their Drone Mapping Essentials online course

And now, with the launch of their Aerial Photo & Video for Drone Pilots course, they’re expanding into content creation — helping drone pilots not only fly safely, but fly creatively.

Sign up during launch week to save $50. Enroll here.

Drone mapping course discount: $1,000 off for a limited time (so you can land a high-paying drone job)

If you’ve been flying drones for a while but want to take your skills to the next level — and actually land higher-paying clients in surveying, construction, or engineering — listen up. There’s a new, advanced drone mapping course. And though it’s generally pretty pricey, I’ve negotiated a drone mapping course discount for Drone Girl readers.

The brand-new Advanced Drone Mapping and Modeling Program from Drone Launch Academy just dropped. It’s easily one of the most comprehensive training series I’ve seen for drone pros who are serious about producing survey-grade, industry-standard deliverables.

It’s normally $2,296, but for a very limited time, you can save up to $1,000 off the full program by using coupon code DRONEGIRL. The catch? This is a super limited-time offer that expires on Friday, April 11 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Here’s the link to sign up for the Advanced Drone Mapping and Modeling Program from Drone Launch Academy with the $1,000 drone mapping course discount automatically applied.

Why this advanced drone mapping course discount will be worth your time

According to DroneDeploy’s 2024 State of Reality Capture Report, 60% of enterprise firms in construction, engineering and energy are already using drone-based mapping, photogrammetry and other reality capture tools. More than half of those firms plan to increase their investment this year.

In short, that means demand for drone pros who can deliver accurate, industry-ready results is skyrocketing. But here’s the truth: owning a high-end drone isn’t enough. To get in on the big contracts, you need to understand geodesy, GNSS corrections, survey control and how to integrate your drone data into real-world engineering workflows.

That’s where this drone mapping course specific to advanced drone mapping and modeling comes into play.

What’s in the Advanced Drone Mapping and Modeling Program from Drone Launch Academy

The Advanced Drone Mapping and Modeling Program from Drone Launch Academy is stacked with real-world instruction taught by actual experts. That includes people who’ve worked in national geodetic systems, on major construction sites and in high-level survey operations.

The program is broken out into four individual courses, which are:

  • Geodesy for Drone Surveying
  • GNSS Positioning and Survey Control for Drone Mapping
  • Advanced Drone Mapping for Construction and Engineering
  • Advanced Drone Mapping for Land Survey

You can purchase each course individually (and I’ve negotiated similar, limited-time discounts for individual courses, too!). Otherwise, the full package gives you a bulk discount for buying them all (plus, use coupon code DRONEGIRL for that additional $1,000 off.

Here’s a quick overview of each course:

1. Geodesy for Drone Surveying

It’s taught by Dave Doyle, former Chief Geodetic Surveyor for the National Geodetic Survey (aka the guy behind NAD 83 and NAVD 88). In this course, you’ll learn the science behind coordinates, projections, and datums so you can confidently communicate with surveyors and ensure accurate mapping deliverables.

The course is normally $299, but you can save $100 (bringing it down to $199) with discount code DRONEGIRL.

2. GNSS Positioning and Survey Control for Drone Mapping

Taught by Chris Breedlove, a GNSS wizard who’s helped integrate drone tech into survey and construction workflows across the U.S., this course helps you Master RTK vs. PPK. You’ll learn how to set control points like a pro and understand how satellite positioning tech ensures your data is trusted on high-stakes projects.

The course is normally $399, but you can save $100 (bringing it down to $299) with discount code DRONEGIRL.

3. Advanced Drone Mapping for Construction and Engineering

Learn site planning, accurate mapping workflows, and how to integrate drone data into existing engineering models. Think: contouring, stockpile analysis, and slope profiling. It’s taught by Nate Howard, Survey Manager at Kiewit, one of the biggest construction firms in North America.

The course is pricier, coming in at $799. But, use that same DRONEGIRL discount code and you can save $300 (bringing it down to $499).

4. Advanced Drone Mapping for Land Survey

This one comes from Rut Patel, founder of Voyager Industries and a hands-on drone systems expert.
This course is loaded with real-world workflows using software like Pix4D and Virtual Surveyor to help you achieve survey-grade outputs that professionals demand.

This one also comes in at $799. But, again, the DRONEGIRL discount code can save $300 (bringing it down to $499).

5. Coming Soon: Advanced 3D Modeling and Digital Twins

Then there’s a fifth course, coming soon. Called Advanced 3D Modeling and Digital Twins, the next module in the program is still in the works. But, if you’re building a drone services business in digital twins or 3D reconstruction, this one should prove useful.

It’s expected to become available in May or June.

Who these drone mapping courses are best for

Whether you’re an independent drone pilot looking to upskill and boost your rates, or part of an enterprise team wanting to keep drone mapping in-house, this program could help boost your skills. Most pilots who specialize in fields like mapping report landing higher-value clients. Those already with clients typically acquire skills like making more accurate or efficient work flows.

The courses could be good for both experienced drone pilots looking to get a job in drones. Or, it would also be well-suited for surveyors, engineers, and construction teams ready to integrate drone tech.

If you’re serious about drone mapping as a career, this course is your way in — all without having to go for a pricey college degree. In fact, when you complete each course, you get a certificate through Certifier.io which you can display on websites such as LinkedIn. It looks like this:

These certifications are all publicly listed and searchable/verifiable.

And right now, you can save $1,000 on the entire program with code DRONEGIRL., or get the individual courses with their own discounts.

Just move fast if you’re interested. These offers expire Friday, April 11 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Spring 2025 drone deals: save money despite inflation (and a sluggish stock market)

If you’ve been eyeing a new drone but hesitated to pull the trigger, you’re not alone. Inflation has been squeezing wallets, concerns about tariffs on Chinese drones and a rocky stock market has left many consumers wary of big-ticket purchases. Luckily, spring 2025 drone deals are still popping up.

Whether you’re a first-time flyer or an experienced pilot looking to upgrade, this guide will help you navigate the best spring 2025 drone deals I’ve seen so far.

$220 off the HOVERAir X1 Self-Flying Camera Drone (plus free gift!)

The HoverAir X1 drone. (Photo by Caroline Dobrez)

The HOVERAir X1 is a lightweight, foldable drone. It’s a nice alternative to DJI drones, such as the DJI Neo or the newer DJI Flip. The HOVERAir X1 is the older model to the spiffier HOVERAir X1 PROMAX and HOVERAir X1 PRO drones, which launched in summer 2024, and this deal has the original at as much as $220 off. Plus, they’re throwing in a free PU case!

27% off the Osmo Action 4

Wow, this is an amazing deal on the DJI Osmo Action 4 Essential Comb. Normally $289, it’s on sale for 27% off, bringing the price down to just $209.

The Osmo 4 Essential Combo is a pared down version of another configuration, the Standard Combo. It includes all the same accessories except for one: the Osmo Action Curved Adhesive Base. Photographers typically use the Osmo Action Curved Adhesive Base for mounting Osmo to something like a bike or ski/snowboard helmet. If those sports aren’t your thing, then going for the Essential Combo affords you some amazing savings.

Part 107 course discounts

The job market is tough right now, but why not work for yourself? In order to legally make money in drones in the U.S., you must hold a Part 107 certificate, which you can earn by passing the Part 107 test. I recommend most people study by enrolling in an online course — affording you the convenience to learn at your own pace (no commute need).

Happily, a few companies have hooked my readers up with exclusive discount codes to make this whole quest a little more affordable. Those are:

Drone Pilot Ground School: They offers a fantastic online training course with practice tests and repeatable videos. In fact, I used them to study for my test — and I passed on my first time — so I can guarantee it’s good! Use coupon code DroneGirl100 to get $100 off.

Drone Launch AcademyThe people behind Drone Launch Academy are some of the nicest people in the drone industry — and the smartest! They offer a great online training course led by FAA-certified Advanced Ground Instructor David Young. Use coupon code DroneGirl50 or this link to get $50 off.

Mapping course discounts

Speaking of Drone Launch Academy, they are offering a discount on their mapping course, too. After all, merely being Part 107 certified is typically not enough to land a high-paying job in drones. Honestly, the market is super saturated with wedding photographers and real estate photographers using drones. The real money is with specializations like photogrammetry and mapping.

Drone Launch Academy’s Drone Mapping And Modeling Fundamentals course is key to launching that career, covering advanced topics like Nadir vs. oblique imagery, GSD, GeoTIFF files and .SHIP files, automated flight plans and creating reports.

Their course is usually $399, but use promo code DRONEGIRLMAPS to bring it down to just $249. That’s $150 in savings!

Sony Airpeak S1 deal at B&H offers free gift worth a whopping $750

On the same week that DJI unveiled a huge upgrade to its enterprise drone lineups by way of the new DJI Dock 3 for its DJI Matrice 4D and 4TD drones, there’s a Sony Airpeak S1 deal that makes this non-Chinese drone (and great DJI alternative) even more appealing.

The Sony Airpeak S1 is one of the most powerful professional drones on the market today. It stands out for its compatibility with Sony’s Alpha Series and FX3 Cameras. Flying these high-end cameras through the air is critical for a range of uses, from making Hollywood films to detailed map-making. It’s also got a high-performance flight system built for commercial applications that’s capable of withstanding harsh conditions.

And perhaps to make it even more attractive (especially in light of the new DJI Dock 3), there’s a deal for shoppers. Between now and March 7, 2025, purchasing an Airpeak S1 through B&H Photo gets you an extra incentive: a free Amimon Transmitter for CONNEX Mini HD Video Link. That’s pretty impressive, considering the transmitter is pegged at a $749 value.

The B&H Sony Airpeak S1 deal: what you get

For a limited time through March 7, B&H is sweetening the deal on the Sony Airpeak S1 ($8,999). It’s doing so by bundling it with the Amimon CONNEX Mini Transmitter (Air Unit). This device is the heart of the CONNEX Mini video downlink system. It delivers zero-latency 1080p60 performance with a line-of-sight range of up to 1,600 feet. At just 2.1 ounces, it’s ideal for drones carrying compact mirrorless cameras like the Panasonic GH4 or high-end cinema rigs like the Sony FX3.

Amimon CONNEX Mini Transmitter (Air Unit

Included in the free gift:

  • CONNEX Mini Transmitter (Air Unit)
  • Two antennas
  • Power cable
  • Micro-HDMI cable

Note: The receiver (Ground Unit) is sold separately.

What makes this drone so special?

The Airpeak S1 is Sony’s bold entry into the professional drone market. It’s been positioned as a top-tier alternative to Chinese-made drones like those from DJI. Given the increasing push to restrict Chinese-made drones, particularly for government and industrial use, the Airpeak S1 is more relevant than ever.

Key Sony Airpeak S1 specs

  • Max Speed: 55.9 mph (fastest in its class)
  • Max Angular Velocity: 180°/s
  • Max Tilt Angle: 55°
  • Obstacle Avoidance: Vision sensors and LiDAR for stability
  • Flight Time: Up to 22 minutes (without payload)
  • Gimbal Compatibility: Gremsy Gimbal T3 ($2,199 required for use)
  • Camera Compatibility: Sony Alpha Series & FX3

This drone, which first was announced in 2021 at CES, initially targeted professional photography and video production. But it didn’t take long for the surveying and industrial application side of the drone industry to pick up on the drone. Besides not being made in China, it stands out for its robust flight control, advanced obstacle sensing and seamless integration with Sony’s high-end cameras.

In April 2023, Sony rolled out even more upgrades which addressed some early issues with the initial drone, like short flight times. That was by way of the new LBP-HM1 Battery, which can now fly for up to 30 minutes without a payload (up from 22 minutes). Sony also launched the Gremsy Gimbal PX1 for Airpeak, which is 40% lighter than the initial GBL-T3 from Gremsy, which is also key in reducing flight times).

Sony’s April relaunch also rolled out even more features to appeal to industrial applications like mapping or inspections. That included a RTK GNSS system for Airpeak S1 with high-precision positioning capability.

The full cost breakdown

If you’re considering purchasing the Sony Airpeak S1, here’s what you’ll need:

That means the base setup — before adding a camera and lenses — is already at $11,198. Given the investment, the free CONNEX Mini Transmitter is a welcome bonus, adding professional-grade video downlink capabilities without additional cost.

Why this Sony Airpeak S1 deal matters

With the U.S. government increasingly scrutinizing the use of Chinese-made drones, the demand for American-made and allied-nation drones has never been higher. While DJI still dominates the market, the Airpeak S1 is a powerful alternative, offering a secure, professional-grade option for filmmakers, surveyors and enterprise users who need to future-proof their operations against potential bans.

There are a number of pieces of legislation floating around there that seek to ban DJI drones. For example, there’s Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s Drones for First Responders (DFR) Act. That act would impose a new, 30% tariff specifically on drones made in China in its first year. The tariffs would grow in size until 2030, upon which the DFR Act would completely ban the importation of drones that contain critical components made in China.

And of course, tariffs on Chinese imports are making Chinese-drones more expensive anyway.

The Sony Airpeak S1 is made by, well, Sony, which is a Japanese company. It’s not subject to those tariffs and restrictions. Companies hiring you for a job might demand you use a non-Chinese made drone, which makes the Sony Airpeak S1 an attractive pick to fly for high-paying contracts. That’s alongside other enterprise drones from American drone companies such as FreeflyInspired Flight and Ascent Aerosystems.

But for those considering making the jump to the Sony Airpeak S1 in particular, now is an excellent time to buy given the B&H deal. The promo period runs through March 7.

The best drone deals of January 2025

Ah, January — the month of fresh starts, resolutions and — for the savvy shopper — some of the best drone deals. Much like the travel industry’s post-holiday sales, January is prime time for snagging drones at reduced prices. Whether you’re a seasoned drone enthusiast or looking to launch your drone journey, this is one of the best times to score some top-tier tech for less.

Sure, you might be participating in “Buy Nothing January,” but if you’ve been eyeing a drone, these discounts might just make it worth breaking your resolution. (Sorry!) Let’s dive into some of the best drone deals that January 2025 has to offer (sorted by size of the discount, with the biggest discounts first):

Autel Robotics EVO Max 4N Industrial Drone

Autel Robotics EVO Max 4N Industrial Drone

Discount: 25.4%
Price: $9,399.00 (Reg. $12,599.00) Save $3,200.00

Autel is considered one of the best DJI alternatives, both in the consumer and enterprise drone department. And this particular one is on big sale.

The Autel Robotics EVO Max 4N Industrial Drone is a strong, non-DJI choice (though like DJI, it is made in China) for professionals in mapping, inspections, and emergency services. With advanced features like thermal imaging and anti-jamming capabilities, it’s a high-performing powerhouse. A 25% discount on such a premium product makes this an extraordinary deal for professionals needing cutting-edge technology.

HOVERAir X1 Self-Flying Camera Drone (Fly More Combo)

The HoverAir X1 drone. (Photo by Caroline Dobrez)

Discount: 25%
Price: $299.00 (Reg. $399.00) Save $100.00

These lightweight, foldable drones are another alternative DJI drone for beginners who want hassle-free flying. With intelligent self-flying modes and palm takeoff, they’re fun and portable options. Consider it a competitor to either the DJI Neo or the newer DJI Flip (it also sits in the middle of both in terms of price).

The HOVERAir X1 is the older model to the spiffier HOVERAir X1 PROMAX and HOVERAir X1 PRO drones, which launched in summer 2024.

A 25% discount makes them even more attractive for casual users.

DJI Mavic 3 Classic with RC-N1 Remote & Outdoor Accessory Kit

DJI Mavic 3 sale
The DJI Mavic 3 drone.

Discount: 17%
Price: $1,556.95 (Reg. $1,876.95) Save $320.00

This version of the Mavic 3 is ideal for creators who want Hasselblad-quality footage without the premium features of the Pro and Cine versions. Though it’s a slightly older model, the savings make it a strong contender for photographers and videographers seeking pro-level quality.

DJI Mini 4 Pro Drone with RC 2 & Travel Case Kit

The DJI Mini 4 Pro. (Photo by Caroline Dobrez)

Discount: 7%
Price: $1,335.75 (Reg. $1,435.75) Save $100.00

The Mini 4 Pro is DJI’s fanciest model within the DJI Mini line. It packs a surprising amount of power into its compact frame (which weighs less than 250 grams). With omnidirectional obstacle avoidance and 4K video capabilities, it’s an excellent option for hobbyists. While the percentage off isn’t huge, this discount is notable given how this is not exactly an “old” model.

DJI Air 3 Drone Fly More Combo with RC2 & Essential Accessory Kit

Sally French, The Drone Girl, reviews the DJI Air 3 in July 2023.
Sally French, The Drone Girl, reviews the DJI Air 3 in July 2023.

Discount: 5.6%
Price: $1,569.99 (Reg. $1,662.93) Save $92.94

The Air 3 strikes a balance between performance and portability, offering dual cameras and excellent video resolution. Released in mid-2024, it’s still a relatively new model. But, without the price discount, it would pale in comparison to the newer, spiffier DJI Air 3S. Keep in mind with this deal that the percentage savings are modest, but the bundled accessories make it a solid value.

DJI Avata FPV Drone with Essential Accessory Kit

DJI Avata

Discount: 10%
Price: $659.99 (Reg. $732.93) Save $72.94

Perfect for FPV enthusiasts, the Avata excels in close-range filming and immersive flight experiences. While the discount is on the smaller side, the Avata’s niche features and included accessories justify its price for those exploring FPV.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro (various configurations)

And then up next, we have all sorts of configurations of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro drone that are on sale:

DJI Mavic 3 Pro Drone with Fly More Combo & DJI RC with Hard Case Kit

Discount: 6.4%
Price: $3,089.99 (Reg. $3,302.88) Save $212.89

A slightly pared-down version of the RC Pro bundle, this kit still offers outstanding image quality and versatility. If you don’t need the premium RC Pro remote, this deal strikes the perfect balance between performance and cost.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro Drone with Fly More Combo & DJI RC Pro with Hard Case Kit

Discount: 6%
Price: $3,939.99 (Reg. $4,192.88) Save $252.89

This kit is perfect for creators who want an upgraded RC Pro remote and premium build quality. The discount isn’t groundbreaking, but the Fly More Combo ensures you’re fully equipped for extended shoots, making this a strong value.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine Drone with Hard Case & 128GB microSD Card Kit

Discount: 5.5%
Price: $4,819.99 (Reg. $5,102.88) Save $282.89

The Cine version of the Mavic 3 Pro is still among the most advanced drones on the market, offering unmatched video quality and ProRes capabilities. This discount is modest, but considering its top-tier specs, it’s probably still worth every penny for professional filmmakers.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine Drone with Essential Accessory Kit

Discount: 1.7%
Price: $4,819.99 (Reg. $4,902.93) Save $82.99

This Cine version includes fewer extras compared to the hard case kit but still delivers cinema-grade footage with its tri-camera system. While the percentage discount is minimal, professionals seeking the best image quality might still find this deal worthwhile.

Every drone discount I can get you right now

A lot of strangers ask me to hook them up with free drones (I don’t even get free drones, so no!). After all, The Drone Girl should mean access to free drones, no?! While I definitely can’t hook you up with a free drone, I can hook you up with Drone Girl-exclusive discounts on some of my favorite products. And considering inflation is roaring, interest rates are high and your 401(k) is probably not exactly soaring, getting a drone discount is likely more crucial than ever.

So I took my powers of sorts as Drone Girl to work with some of the biggest names in drones. They know you readers are some of the most dedicated and thoughtful pilots, entrepreneurs and leaders in the industry — so they want you as customers, too. As a thank you for being my reader, myself and the following companies are able to provide exclusive promo codes and other drone discounts.

I’ll also be transparent; when you patronize the below businesses, it helps me too — either as an affiliate commission, or to show advertisers that their sponsorship of my site is worthwhile! I don’t charge readers (that’s you) for anything on my site — as I believe you having access to information is important. But, I can’t work for free either, which is why I work with these companies. So if you’d like to financial support this site and keep it alive long into the future, consider supporting my supporters!

And with that, here’s a list of every drone discount (and discounts on drone-related products) that I can get you right now:

2. Coupon codes for other online drone courses

There’s more to learn about drones than simply getting your Part 107 license!

Drone mapping and modeling

A screenshot from the Drone Mapping And Modeling Fundamentals course by Drone Launch Academy.

Drone mapping is one of the top drone applications in the world.  Having the skills do build aerial maps or models using drones can translate to a huge increase in the number and types of drone jobs you’re able to take, as well as how much money you can charge for that work.

Given that, enrolling in an online drone mapping class can be a straightforward, affordable way to gain the knowledge you need to level up your drone business. One of the best drone mapping classes, Drone Mapping And Modeling Fundamentals from Drone Launch Academy has offered Drone Girl readers a killer deal on their course, which normally costs $399.

Enter coupon code DRONEGIRLMAPS at checkout to get $150 off their $399 course, bringing your price down to $249. By the way, the discount should automatically apply with this link.

Drone photo courses

Friend of the Drone Girl Johan Vandenhecke (who is the creator of the Drone Adventurer Masterclass, an online drone photography course) is giving all Drone Girl readers $50 off his course.

The course covers so much of what you need to know about using drones for photography, from actual flight tips, to editing in Lightroom and — perhaps most importantly — making money in drones.

Use this link with promo code SALLY50 to save $50 off the Drone Adventurer Masterclass.

There’s also an upgraded option that comes with three, 1:1 coaching sessions. Use this link with promo code SALLY50PLUS to save $50 on the upgraded 1:1 coaching course.

3. Other Drone Girl coupon codes

Beyond just drone-specific products, I also have a couple other deals around travel, lifestyle and tech products that could save you money:

$10 off Waymo

As someone who loves walking, public transit and generally not driving, I’m a big fan of Waymo to fill in the gaps to get to spaces either too far to walk (or inaccessible by public transit).

It’s like Uber —minus the awkward small talk! My favorite part is blasting whatever music I want.

Waymo operates in San Francisco where I live, as well as a few other cities like Phoenix and parts of Los Angeles. It’s definitely a must-do tourist attraction if you’re ever in San Francisco!

You can experience the convenience of autonomous and joy rides too! Save $10 on your first trip with this link and see why I love it.

Google Fiber Webpass

Free month of Google Fiber Webpass Wi-Fi

I am a Wi-Fi maniac — no surprise for the blogging, droning lifestyle! Slow Wi-Fi slows me down, which is why I use Google Fiber Webpass at home.

If you want to try out Webpass (and there are no contracts, so why not?!) you can get your first month of Google Fiber Webpass free here.

Read more: Google Fiber Webpass: 5 reasons why it’s the best Internet provider for drone pilots

Get $20 off your first Getaround trip

I live in San Francisco, where owning a car doesn’t make sense. But flying drones in San Francisco also doesn’t really make sense oftentimes, which is why I’m constantly driving to vineyards in wine country or down the California coastline to take drone footage.

My preferred way to rent a car? Skipping the traditional rental car companies, and going to Getaround, which is like Airbnb for cars. Rental car prices are incredibly high right now, and waits at the rental car counter are longer than ever. Getaround cars are priced by owners which means you can likely find a deal. Plus, you unlock them through your phone, so there’s no counter to wait at. Walk up to the car, unlock it through the Getaround app and start driving.

If you’re interested in renting out a Getaround car, this link can get you $20 off, which will automatically be applied to your first trip after selecting a protection plan.

Earn 60,000 bonus points when you apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred

Whether it’s flying drones in an awesome new spot, or just attending drone conferences, I am always traveling. Right now, my preferred travel credit card is, well, the Chase Sapphire Preferred, as it earns 5x points on travel purchased through Chase, plus 3x points on dining, streaming and groceries.

Apply now through this link to earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That’s $750 toward travel when you redeem your points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.

While the card has a $95 annual fee, there’s a $50 annual ultimate rewards hotel credit, 10% anniversary points boost, plus other travel benefits like travel insurance (which I wouldn’t travel without these days).

Free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime

It’s 2022, so surely you’ve heard of Amazon Prime. If you haven’t, well — it’s the membership program associated with Amazon. With it comes benefits including free shipping (including same-day delivery on some products), free movie and TV streaming, ad-free access to music streaming, unlimited full-resolution online photo storage and 5 GB free video storage.

Alas, Amazon Prime doesn’t offer free drone delivery — yet.

It’s $139 per year or $14.99 per month, though you can get a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime through this link.

4. Other ways to get a drone discount (and yes, sometimes even free drones!)

I can’t personally hook you up with free drones, but I can connect you to other places on the Internet that can either nab you a drone discount and, yes, perhaps even a free drone.

I put together a guide to getting free drones, or at least a drone discount. Check it out here. There, you’ll find contests, secondhand marketplaces and borrowing programs that can often connect you with free or cheap drones.

You can also commonly find discounts for certainly affiliations, such as being a first responder or military member. Check with those affiliations to see if they apply to you.

Price: $1,240 (normally $1,549)

Sure, the DJI Air 3S drone is the spiffier version of this one that’s on sale. But I still maintain that the DJI Air 3, which is a mid-range drone that I loved when I first reviewed it in 2023, is perfect for hobbyists and semi-pro pilots. Its standout features include omnidirectional obstacle sensing, improved internal storage (42GB), and an all-new Panorama mode. With a $300 Black Friday discount, it’s an excellent buy for those looking to save while still getting a top-notch drone.

Early 2024 Black Friday deals are coming in hot for drone pilots

If you’re a drone pilot hoping to get an advance on 2024 Black Friday deals, you’re in luck. It seems that holidays like Halloween and Christmas seem to start earlier and earlier every year. And in 2024, the same holds true for Black Friday.

Many great 2024 Black Friday deals are already out. Companies are competing with each other for your dollars — and presumably brands want to get your dollars before another one did.

Sure, the early marketing emails are annoying, but the good news is that you don’t have to wait until Black Friday to get your deals shopping done. Speaking of marketing emails, I’ve been gathering deals from the top brands all season. I’ve been filtering out which ones are actually worthwhile (after all, I’ve been tracking drones and their prices for more than a decade!).

And with that, I’ve put together an early guide to 2024 Black Friday deals for drone pilots that are actually worth it.

20% off DJI Air 3 Fly More Combo (now $1,240)

Sally French, The Drone Girl, reviews the DJI Air 3 in July 2023.
Sally French, The Drone Girl, reviews the DJI Air 3 in July 2023.

Price: $1,240 (normally $1,549)

DJI dropped its DJI Air 3S drone this fall, offering a spiffier version of the original Air 3. Among its biggest improvements are better omnidirectional obstacle sensing, a new Panorama mode and expanded internal storage (42GB up from just 8 on the DJI Air 3). It’s no secret that in a battle between the DJI Air 3 vs. DJI Air 3S, the latter is better. But that assumes the same price point.

The Air 3S Fly More Combo with DJI RC 2 retails for the same price as the DJI Air 3 on normal days. But for Black Friday 2024, the Air 3 is $300 cheaper. That makes the decision tougher in some ways, but either way you win: either a better drone with the Air 3S, or a $300 savings with the Air 3.

And for what it’s worth, when I reviewed the DJI Air 3 in the summer of 2023, I absolutely loved it — and still vouch today that it’s a great drone.

Buy the DJI Air 3 Fly More Combo with DJI RC 2 controller: $1,240

Up to 30% off HOVERAir X1 plus free battery

Between now and Dec. 2, the HOVERAir X1 is going for up to 30% off plus a free bonus battery in early Black Friday sales. The Standard it, normally $429, is now down to just $299. The Combo Plus, normally $519, has dropped to $359.

The HOVERAir X1 is an ultra-portable drone with features like auto-follow mode, one-tap cinematic templates, and 4K video capture. This drone is closest in comparison to the DJI Neo. And though I do generally recommend the DJI Neo over the HOVERAir X1 (not to mention, the DJI Neo is cheaper at $199), this is a good option of you want a DJI alternative to a selfie drone.

Check out my HoverAir X1 review, and then get in on the HOVERAir X1 sale before it ends on Dec. 2.

52% off DJI Power 1000 (now $480)

Price: $480 (normally $999)

This is a killer deal on what I considered one of the best portable power stations for drone pilots. The DJI Power 1000 had been on sale at $699 earlier this week, but now it’s been discounted even further to $480.

Portable power stations like the DJI Power 1000 offer the best of both worlds between a car charger (which is usually slow and weak) and a generator (which is loud and bulky). The DJI Power 1000 weighs less than 30 pounds, can recharge devices within roughly an hour and is super quiet — like, even quieter than most household refrigerators.

If you’re constantly roadtripping or camping with your drone, this is a game-changer.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro Fly More Combo (DJI RC): 0% APR and free water bottle

DJI Mavic 3 The Drone Girl Sally French

Right now, you can snag the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Fly More Combo (DJI RC) with 0% APR financing and a free DJI-branded water bottle when you shop directly through DJI.

The Mavic 3 Pro is a powerhouse for aerial creatives, featuring a triple-camera system, 43-minute flight time, and Hasselblad imaging technology that delivers stunning photos and videos. The Fly More Combo includes essential extras like extra batteries, a charging hub, and spare propellers, ensuring you’re ready for long flights right out of the box.

The 0% APR financing offer makes this premium drone (yes, it’s $3,000) more accessible by spreading out payments with no interest. For those who’ve been eyeing a flagship drone but don’t want to drop a hefty sum upfront, this deal can be a game-changer. Just know what you’re in for. While 0% APR means no extra interest for the period of the offer, just know that missing payments or stretching your finances too thin can lead to fees or negative impacts to your credit scores down the line.
